I decided to write a haiku this week and then use a form called Troiku created by Chèvrefeuille at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. This form uses each line of the starting haiku as the first line of the next haiku. It does not have to all be related, but I like to challenge myself to create one idea.
autumn colors drift creating butterfly clouds swirling around us
autumn colors drift stirring memories when time was at a crawl
creating butterfly clouds enveloping the spirits of our youthful past
swirling around us the happiness of childhood imbues our essence
My father introduced me to the constellations as a child. We would first look for the milky way and then start finding the summer constellations. Of all my siblings I was the only one really interested. Even with meteor showers, one by one my sisters would slip into the house until I was alone with the heavens, stars and my thoughts. This is still one of my favorite things to do.
night sky so clear I see my childhood through father’s eyes
alone in the dark watching the Perseids shower all night thoughts blazing
