mysterious landscapes
backlit by the sun
beckoning

rise and unfold before my eyes
dragons and knights quell fears
as they dissipate

worlds of clouds
sweeping away the mundane
in a gust of wind

mysterious landscapes
forging the terrain
of my imagination

backlit by the sun
forgotten hopes and dreams
remembered

beckoning
my true self emerging
from veiled shadows

rise and unfold before my eyes
new paths and adventures
to conquer

dragons and knights quell fears
of the daily grind –
youth awakened

as they dissipate
I wave goodbye to worry
a smile emerges

worlds of clouds
Spark the imagination
dreams unfold

sweeping away the mundane
cobwebs of my life
trailing

in a gust of wind
a new spring added
to my gait

At Dawn

At Dawn

Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #113 Troiku Hineri … at dawn

at dawn
I wash my feet with dew
the longest day © Yozakura (1640-1716)

at dawn
I spread my arms toward the sun
start of summer

I wash my feet with dew
grass clippings cling to my sole
violets in hand

the longest day
a butterfly chases its shadow
across my path

…………………………..

at dawn
ribbons of sunlight dance
in the trees

I spread my arms toward the sun
its faint warmth on my skin
filling my heart

start of summer
new flowers sing praise
ancient songs of joy

…………………………..

I wash my feet with dew
scooping glistening diamonds
from ladened petals

grass clippings cling to my sole
garden scents mingle in the air
roses and lavender

violets in hand
I weave a purple chain
for your hair

…………………………..

the longest day
we spread a blanket
under the maple

a butterfly chases its shadow
your laughter follows
lifting its wings

across my path
a shadow of your frailty
dappled in sunlight

rain beats upon its trunk
winds tear at its leaves

creating sinuous creatures

sun’s red reflection

shallow pool
a flower stirs
the quiet breeze

sun’s red reflection
heatwaves rise above surface
shimmering

blossoms drift
shoreline flooded
dragonflies soaring

shallow pool
a dragonfly hovers
plastic lily pad

a flower stirs
its aroma into the night
sun sinks low

the quiet breeze
cools the air
crickets serenade

sun’s red reflection
deepens with the night
stars begin to shine

heatwaves rise above surface
sweltering dreams
flash and rumble

shimmering
fireflies decorate the lawn
stars descend

shoreline flooded
strands of moonlight
kiss your hair

dragonflies soaring
in the last embers of light
night descends

the wild geese take flight
wings softly stir the breeze
lonesome cry echoes

low along the railroad tracks
a stray dog drags his tail
fur against cold steal

in the moonlit night
a screech owls voice
pierces my heart

Prophecy Candle
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14, NIV)

Bethlehem Candle
“This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” (Luke 2:12, NIV)

Shepherds Candle (pink)
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (Luke 2:8–11, NIV)

Angels Candle
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:13–14, NIV)

Christ Candle
Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18, NIV)

the scent of autumn
awakens faint memories of youth

mixing with chimney smoke

after the rain – stronger
