Carpe Diem #865 torn apart book (reading nature)
nuthatches feast
at the suet feeders
winter approaches
~~~
in the oak the kwirr
of the red bellied woodpecker
spring returns
~~~
beneath my window
the Jenny wren greets the sun
summer has arrived
~~~
I’m relatively new to haiku but even I can tell that these are the truth of the haiku form!
What a wonderful description:
“the kwirr
of the red bellied woodpecker”
– so precisely drawn and so musically phrased at the same time 🙂
Thank you for your kind words. I recognize the red-bellied woodpecker’s calls and know when they return.
